The Bethel United Pentecostal Church was looking for a building to house those that gathered each week to worship and praise God. This search involved the purchase of a couple of lots in a housing subdivision along with the plans for a new building. After a couple of meetings with the members of the subdivision and the city council it appeared as though the building process would not be approved. The church members had been meeting in a rented facility and needed to either renew the lease the following summer or find another place to worship. Discussion began as to what should be done. The answer came in the form of a letter from the landlord. The contract would not be renewed due to the landlord's need for the space. Now a more immediate plan was needed for a place to meet. There did not seem to be any way that a new building could be constructed in the amount of time that it was needed due to the obstacles that had appeared. The church would need a building that was already standing and that could still meet the needs of the local assembly.
Does God provide an answer? He always does. This time it was in the form of a building situated right in the heart of town. The building was well known for its meetings already. Many people had already attended and returned on a regular basis. All that was needed was someone to purchase the property and begin holding meetings of their own. That building was the Brass Buckle Roadhouse. This establishment was not just well known. It was notorious. Situated in the heart of downtown Bethel it was almost impossible for anyone that came to Bethel for very long to not know about the Brass Buckle. God was about to perform another miracle. You may wonder why this story is on the page entitled miracle time. It is because the change that transpired in downtown Bethel was and is a miracle.
A monetary transaction took place and then a spiritual transformation began to take place. A place that had witnessed turmoil began to experience peace. Instead of despair, hope; instead of pain, joy; and instead of darkness there shone a great light. A transformation had begun. The good work that the Lord has begun will one day be completed by that same power.
To God be the glory!
